“The Remainders” – A FAMA Media Group Production, for the FAMA Institute of Art & Media
Where cinematic craft meets rigorous training, and the student becomes the star-
Three children, one orphanage, and a flickering hope for a family. Will they finally find their place, or will this opportunity, like so many before it, pass them by?
Synopsis
In a New York City orphanage, prospective parents come and go, with younger children often finding homes first. As the residents grow older, the dream of being adopted begins to fade. These older children are known as the “Remainders.”
The story follows three children, each at a different age, who have reached the point of being labeled as the orphanage’s “Remainders.” Now, they face one final, pivotal chance to find a home. Will they succeed, or is their fate already sealed?

The FAMA Difference: An Immersive Educational Experience
At the FAMA Institute of Art & Media, acting is not just taught—it is lived. Under the mentorship of five-time Emmy Award-winning coach Michael Finan, students dive deep into the foundations of film acting. Through the study of 60 to 90 pivotal cinematic works and intensive weekly on-camera practice, our students master the language of the screen.
What sets our program apart in the Tri-State area is our commitment to real-world application. Each year, FAMA Media Group produces an original short film, custom-scripted for our students. This is not merely a class project; it is a professional production directed by Michael Finan and featuring acclaimed actor Manolis Ioannidis (known for his work on Netflix and Apple TV).
The FAMA experience consists of 28 weeks of rigorous training that culminates in a professional film set environment. From script analysis and character development to the realities of long waits and multiple takes, our students work side-by-side with industry veterans. By the time the cameras stop rolling, they have transitioned from theory to the heart of professional filmmaking.

The 24-minute film is currently in post-production. The official premiere is scheduled for November 21, 2026, followed by a screening at the Famagusta Film Festival NYC 2027

As they push their limits, the central question emerges: do they have the self-awareness required to truly act?
